The Hudson Blue Hawks will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Berlin/New Lebanon Mountain Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Hudson's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Berlin/New Lebanon has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Hudson managed to keep up with Coxsackie-Athens until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Hudson ended up on the wrong side of a rough 70-47 walloping at the hands of Coxsackie-Athens.
Despite the loss, Hudson saw an underclassman step up: Malia Jackson dropped a double-double on 30 points and 22 rebounds. Jackson scored a full 63.8% of Hudson's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amya Moore, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Berlin/New Lebanon had to suffer through a rough 71-31 loss at the hands of Chatham.
Hudson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Berlin/New Lebanon, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
