If the Coral Gables Cavaliers were feeling good off their 67-45 takedown of the Gaither Cowboys last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Coral Gables took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Miami on Tuesday. It was the first time this season that Coral Gables let down their fans at home.
Loss or not, Coral Gables got some senior leadership from Gabriel Chang who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals and Marcellis Williams who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Williams hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Roosevelt Jeanmarry Jr., who scored four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Coral Gables' loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-4. As for Miami, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Coral Gables will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Hialeah Gardens at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Hialeah Gardens' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Miami, they will head out on the road to square off against Belen Jesuit at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Belen Jesuit is ranked 81st, while Miami is ranked 70th).
