The Clarkson/Leigh Patriots came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Shelby-Rising City 65-31 on the road. The result was nothing new for Clarkson/Leigh, who have now won three matches by 34 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Chloe Hanel, who scored 26 points along with six steals and five assists. The contest was her tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Hollatz, who scored 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Shelby-Rising City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ava Larmon. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. Larmon hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games.
Clarkson/Leigh's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.67 points. As for Shelby-Rising City, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clarkson/Leigh will take on Aquinas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Aquinas is ranked 107th, while Clarkson/Leigh is ranked 97th). As for Shelby-Rising City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Meridian on Saturday.
