Southington got a great performance from Gabe Hinkson as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.1 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Hinkson a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Southington let Zach Noyes and Brycen Voisine run wild. Noyes went 3-for-4 with one home run and one double, while Voisine went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was Noyes' first of the season. Mark Zigmont was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Southington lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Masuk's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to New Canaan on Wednesday. Masuk was the clear victor by a 15-5 margin over Kaynor Tech. Masuk's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Chris Welch, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Steven Curtin, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Southington's win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Masuk, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-3.
