Meanwhile, Spring Valley hadn't done well against Sierra Vista recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Grizzlies put the hurt on the Mountain Lions with a sharp 22-5 victory. Considering the Grizzlies have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Isabella Lenahan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Spring Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.
Spring Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Bishop Gorman, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11-1.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bishop Gorman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. However, it's not like Spring Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
