Sleepy Hollow is 0-5 against Rye since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Sleepy Hollow Horsemen will be playing at home against the Rye Garnets at 9:30 a.m. Sleepy Hollow will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 365th, while Rye is ranked 42nd).
After soaring to 31 points the game before, Sleepy Hollow were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 46-7 loss at the hands of Pleasantville. Sleepy Hollow was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-0.
Meanwhile, Rye had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They beat Ardsley by the very same score they won with last week: 42-14. The result was nothing new for Rye, who have now won five contests by 23 points or more so far this season.
Rye can attribute much of their success to AJ Miller, who threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Charlie Stevens was another key contributor, picking up 90 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Sleepy Hollow's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-1 Pearl River and 4-2 Nanuet (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 76.8% over those games). Rye is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Sleepy Hollow suffered a grim 35-14 defeat to Rye when the teams last played back in September of 2021. Will Sleepy Hollow have more luck at home instead of on the road?
