Basketball Game Preview: Alleghany Trojans vs. Starmount Rams

The Alleghany Trojans will face off against the Starmount Rams at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Alleghany has four straight wins, Starmount has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Wednesday, Alleghany didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Elkin, but they still walked away with a 57-52 victory. With that win, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.

Alleghany's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colby Crouse, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The game was Crouse's third in a row with at least ten points. John LeMasters was another key player, putting up ten points and eight boards.

Alleghany smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Starmount had to suffer through a 75-32 loss at the hands of South Stokes. The contest marked the Rams' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Alleghany now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Starmount, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.

Alleghany beat Starmount 64-54 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alleghany since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
