It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but The City School Lions had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They secured a 77-71 W over the Lions. The City School's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
The City School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shawn Murphy out in front who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Talan Hawkins, who scored 17 points along with eight assists.
The City School now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Phelps, they dropped their record down to 12-14 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The City School will challenge the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Life Center Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 75.7 points per game this season. As for Phelps, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Bucs at 6:15 p.m. on January 31st. One thing working in Blair Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
