The Bangor Slaters will head out on the road to face off against the Allentown Central Catholic Vikings at 7:05 p.m. on Friday. Bangor will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 184th, while Allentown Central Catholic is ranked 19th).
Last Friday, Bangor got themselves on the board against Pen Argyl, but Pen Argyl never followed suit. They enjoyed a cozy 14-0 victory over the Green Knights.
Bangor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Greg Campbell led the charge by throwing for 173 yards and two touchdowns. Mj Siu did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Allentown Central Catholic had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against Bethlehem Catholic by a score of 24-14.
Their wins bumped Bangor to 6-4 and Allentown Central Catholic to 8-2.
Bangor was taken down by Allentown Central Catholic 42-7 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Bangor avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
