The Franklin Cougars will square off against the San Angelo Central Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Franklin stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 66-42 margin over El Dorado. Given Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while El Dorado is ranked 558th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Franklin had a senior duo take command as Caitlynn Clark scored 22 points along with three steals and two blocks and Lorianne Bueno dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Clark is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 18 or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maryfer Carrera, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, San Angelo Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They took down Odessa 45-26. That's two games straight that San Angelo Central has won by exactly 19 points.
Franklin has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which somehow isn't as good as their 22-7 record this season. As for San Angelo Central, they pushed their record up to 22-11 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home.
