The Menendez Falcons won against the Deltona Wolves last Monday with 46 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Menendez snuck past Deltona with a 46-42 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Menendez.
Among those leading the charge was Dasani Newsome, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakayla Newsome, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Deltona had strong showings from Iniya Reddicks, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, and Calise Chisholm, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Reddicks has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Barbary, who scored six points along with two steals and two blocks.
Menendez is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Deltona, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4.
Menendez won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bolles at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Bolles presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Menendez in Florida (Bolles is ranked 25th, while Menendez is ranked 122nd). Deltona won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Vanguard at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Vanguard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
