The Kosciusko Whippets will be home for the holidays to greet the West Lowndes Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Saturday, the stars were shining brightly for Kosciusko in a 50-32 win over West Point. 50 seems to be a good number for Kosciusko as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kosciusko to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cory Guyton, who scored 14 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Mancell, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, West Lowndes beat Nanih Waiya 61-48 on Tuesday. Given West Lowndes' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Nanih Waiya is ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kosciusko has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for West Lowndes, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.
Everything went Kosciusko's way against West Lowndes when the teams last played back in November of 2020 as Kosciusko made off with a 68-48 victory. Does Kosciusko have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Lowndes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
