After a string of four wins, the O'Fallon Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 70-53 fall against Belleville West. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as O'Fallon came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Belleville West is ranked 142nd).
Belleville West's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brandon Scott, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Marshall jr., who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds.
O'Fallon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Belleville West, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.
O'Fallon's road trip will continue as they head out to face Althoff Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on December 2nd. Althoff Catholic and O'Fallon are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for Belleville West, they will be playing at home against Collinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Collinsville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
