Metro Tech is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Sunrise Mountain is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Metro Tech Knights will take on the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Metro Tech can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game last Monday. They put the hurt on South Mountain with a sharp 4-1 victory. Given Metro Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 18th, while South Mountain is ranked 139th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, Sunrise Mountain rose to the challenge on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Colts 2-1.
Sunrise Mountain was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Luis Urias Garcia and
Kale Howell, who scored both of Sunrise Mountain's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 18 so far this season.
Metro Tech's win bumped their record up to 11-1-1. As for Sunrise Mountain, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4-2 record this season.
Metro Tech was able to grind out a solid win over Sunrise Mountain in their previous matchup back in January of 2018, winning 4-2. Will Metro Tech repeat their success, or does Sunrise Mountain have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
