Brackenridge and Edison are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Golden Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Brackenridge sitting on three straight victories and Edison on ten.
Brackenridge had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Highlands on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Owls 18-1.
Rodolfo Nino made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Brackenridge: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Brackenridge got a massive performance out of Jordan Monroy, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Monroy a new career-high. Jacob Contreras also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Edison earned a 9-5 win over Jefferson on Thursday.
Luis Garcia Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hector Narvaez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Edison pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Brackenridge, their record now sits at 8-12.
Brackenridge came up short against Edison when the teams last played back in March, falling 4-0. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
