The Maxwell Panthers will look to defend their home pitch on Thursday against the Hamilton Braves at 3:00 p.m. Maxwell's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
Maxwell fell victim to Williams' stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They suffered a rough 4-0 loss at the hands of the Yellowjackets. While losing is never fun, Maxwell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 815th, while Williams is ranked 218th).
Meanwhile, Hamilton kept a clean sheet against Durham on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Trojans.
Hamilton was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Jorge Cortes and
Mason Massa, who scored both of Hamilton's goals. The pair have combined for a total of six so far this season.
Maxwell's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3-1. As for Hamilton, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12-2.
Maxwell beat Hamilton by a goal in their previous matchup back in January, winning 2-1. Will Maxwell repeat their success, or does Hamilton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
