The Southview Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 47-32 to Lima Senior. Southview was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lima Senior apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2019.
Despite the defeat, Southview had strong showings from Lacie Filas, who scored 16 points along with five steals, and Mikayla Dorn, who scored eight points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Filas has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Southview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lima Senior's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maisie Strawser, who scored 16 points along with five steals. Strawser is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Angie Kohlhofer, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Southview's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-12. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.2 points per game. As for Lima Senior, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Coincidentally, Southview and Lima Senior will both be playing Scott the next time they take the court. Southview will host Scott at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Lima Senior will host them at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
