After a string of six wins, the Columbia Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 80-62 bruising from Jefferson Davis County. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (56), Columbia still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Columbia lost, one person who can't be blamed is Payshunce Sims. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points. The game was Sims' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Indea Pounds was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Columbia's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Jefferson Davis County, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbia won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against East Marion at 4:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Hopefully East Marion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday. Jefferson Davis County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against West Marion on December 22nd. West Marion is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
