The Lovington Wildcats stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Eunice 60-18 at home. Given Lovington's advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Eunice is ranked 77th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lovington found their leader in underclassman Ashelynn Borunda, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Elizabeth Buendia was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and two steals.
Lovington is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Eunice, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Lovington won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Clovis at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Clovis is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Eunice, they will square off against Dora at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
