If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Marathon. They will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Chequamegon at 7:00 PM. Marathon will be looking to build upon the 53-0 win they picked up against Chequamegon the last time they played.
It was all tied up at the half for Marathon and Abbotsford last week, but Marathon stepped up in the second half. Marathon were able to grind out a solid win over Abbotsford, winning 28-17.
Meanwhile, Chequamegon took a serious blow against Stratford, falling 6-68.
Marathon's victory lifted them to 1-2 while Chequamegon's defeat dropped them down to 1-2. We'll find out if Marathon can add another positive mark to their record or if Chequamegon can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Marathon's step.
