St. John Paul II is a perfect 10-0 against Nantucket since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lions will host the Whalers at 4:00 p.m. St. John Paul II is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
St. John Paul II's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over Sturgis West. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by nine runs or more this season.

Colin Buckley and Logan Our were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Buckley tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Our struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Buckley a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At bat, Buckley got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run, while Our went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Our has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times he's played.
In other batting news, St. John Paul II got a massive performance out of Ryan Amerault, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Tyler Ross was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
St. John Paul II hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nantucket). Everything went their way against Rising Tide on Wednesday as they made off with a 20-3 victory. The Whalers have beaten Rising Tide the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Rising Tide has come to flipping the script.
St. John Paul II's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Nantucket, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Everything went St. John Paul II's way against Nantucket in their previous meeting back in April, as St. John Paul II made off with a 15-2 victory. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Whalers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
