Even though the Perry Panthers scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, the Westside Seminoles still came out on top. Westside took their contest against Perry 65-56. Given Westside's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Perry is ranked 394th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westside was led to victory by Christian Little and Chauncey Williams. Little scored 18 points along with five rebounds, while Williams scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Rembert, who scored nine points.
Westside has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Perry, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
Westside will head out on the road to face off against West Laurens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Perry won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Peach County at 3:30 p.m. on January 20th. Peach County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Perry likes a good challenge.
