Softball Recap: Greenway Comes Up Short

Greenway extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 10-7. They came up short against the Thunderbird Titans, falling 9-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on Tuesday.

Bella Morris made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Riley Micale also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Thunderbird, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-6. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Thunderbird's side, Alicia Flores and Addison Hodge made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Flores struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Hodge pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Flores has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Flores went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Hodge got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Thunderbird let Catarina Beams and Brianna Nystuen run wild. Beams went 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Nystuen went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Greenway will face off against Paradise Honors at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Demons will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Thunderbird, they will square off against Shadow Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Matadors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.27 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
