For the first time this season, Trinity Christian will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will host the Fairfax HomeSchool Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Trinity Christian came out on top against Seton last Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Gryphons put the hurt on the Conquistadors with a sharp 12-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gryphons.
Meanwhile, Fairfax HomeSchool strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They didn't even let Bullis on the board, marking the Hawks' second-straight 15-0 shutout. Considering the Hawks have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Madison Shaw and Lydia Kim were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Shaw struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Kim tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Shaw went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Kim went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madelyn Shaw, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Sadie Haas was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Fairfax HomeSchool's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 17.0 runs this season. As for Trinity Christian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Trinity Christian might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Fairfax HomeSchool in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Gryphons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
