Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Independence). Everything went their way against the Maquoketa Valley Wildcats on Friday as they made off with a 24-9 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Mustangs with their most commanding win of the season.

The victory was the third in a row for Independence, bringing their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Maquoketa Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will face off against Solon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Maquoketa Valley, they will square off against Central City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
