Softball Recap: Garey Wins Going Away Against Nogales

Garey's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Nogales Nobles 13-3. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Nobles on April 10th, they had to take a 12-10 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Tatiana Navarro, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Micaela Ortiz, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Garey always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nogales only posted an OBP of .333.

Garey's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Nogales, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Garey will face off against Azusa at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Aztecs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.54 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Nogales, they will challenge Baldwin Park at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Nobles are facing the Braves at the right time seeing as the Braves are stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
