The Cincinnatus Central Lions will be playing at home against the Solvay Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On January 8th, it was a hard-fought match, but Cincinnatus Central had to settle for a 35-33 loss against Harpursville.
Meanwhile, Solvay's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 44-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hannibal.
Despite their loss, Solvay saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Neonna Turk, who scored ten points along with seven steals and five assists, was perhaps the best of all. Turk has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiya Walters, who scored five points along with five assists and four steals.
Even though they lost, Solvay were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Cincinnatus Central dropped their record down to 1-3 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.8 points per game. As for Solvay, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
Cincinnatus Central strolled past Solvay in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a score of 24-9. Does Cincinnatus Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Solvay turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
