While Robert C. Byrd's win against Elkins wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tigers 5-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Jaxson Maglowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Anderson Levake was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Owen Omara, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Preston unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 10-2 to Buckhannon-Upshur. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.
Preston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyric Moats, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Preston's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Robert C. Byrd, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Robert C. Byrd has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Preston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Robert C. Byrd came out on top in a nail-biter against Preston in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
