The Rondout Valley Ganders had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged Spackenkill out 32-29. The win was just what Rondout Valley needed coming off of a 67-27 loss in their prior contest.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marlena Delaurentis, who scored 12 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Delaurentis has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Maryclare Parker-stark, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Spackenkill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Rondout Valley's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Spackenkill, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rondout Valley will take on the Comets at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fallsburg and the Ganders are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for Spackenkill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Red Hook presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Spartans in New York (the Raiders are ranked 172nd, while the Spartans are ranked 374th).
