Oblong extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Red Hill Salukis. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Salukis since March 29, 2022.
Norah Hoke made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Kintner, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Red Hill, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.
On Red Hill's side, Rhyan Fiscus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.
At the plate, Riley Moore and Jadelyn Wheat did most of the damage at the plate: Moore went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Wheat went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Wheat a new career-high. Chloe Seed was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Looking ahead, Oblong will head out on the road to face off against North Clay/Clay City at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Red Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hutsonville/Palestine at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Salukis' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
