III Section II recap October 1, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Emilio Araiza and Matt Bushman connected against Flagstaff. The connection was good for 78 yards, the longest such play in III Section II this season.
Douglas lost to Buena 62-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. David Vasquez was a bright spot for the Bulldogs, as he ran for 23 yards in the defeat.
Sabino's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Araiza threw for 192 and 4 touchdowns and Bushman had 163 yards receiving. On the ground Zach Joseph contributed 108 yards.
Bushman was the best receiver in the league this week as the Sabercats beat the Eagles. Bushman tallied 4 receptions for 163 yards.
Sabino's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Sabercats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Araiza has thrown for 743 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Bushman has 27 catches for 669 yards.
Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Sabino takes on Empire. Jay Campos' team's offense has scored 161 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Ravens have allowed only 115 on the year.
An important game coming up in III Section II this week will be when Empire takes on the Sabercats. W.T. Jeffries' team is in third place, while Sabino is in first place.
Catalina and Flowing Wells played the closest game in the league this week, with Catalina eventually emerging with a 49-44 victory.
