Valley hasn't had much luck against Silverado recently, but that could start to change on Monday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. Valley will be strutting in after a victory while Silverado will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with 11 defeats in a row, Valley turned things around against Del Sol on Monday. They won by a set and slipped past the Dragons 3-2.
Valley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 21-25, 16-25, 25-18, 27-25, 15-4.
Meanwhile, Silverado faced Green Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Skyhawks took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gators.
Silverado was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Green Valley work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-15, 18-25, 25-22.
Valley picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-19. As for Silverado, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.
Valley might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Silverado in their previous matchup back in September. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Skyhawks' Addisyn Simbahon, who had eight aces and five digs.
