The Midfield Patriots had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 66-55 win over Childersburg. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Midfield was led to victory by Brandon Riddle and Armonie Franklin. Riddle scored 19 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Franklin almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Riddle is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jashawn Moore, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and five blocks.
Midfield has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Childersburg, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.
Midfield will face off against Fultondale at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Fultondale is ranked 118th, while Midfield is ranked 116th). Childersburg will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Midfield at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
