Sierra Vista is 2-7 against Basic since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Mountain Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Wolves at 3:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Sierra Vista's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Bonanza. Considering the Mountain Lions have won four contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Reagan Foglia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sierra Vista got a massive performance out of Emma Haralson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Penelope Spann, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Basic made easy work of Spring Valley on Thursday and carried off a 9-3 victory. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Like Sierra Vista, Basic also got a great game from a two-way player: Melanie Hughes. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Hughes was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Natalee Ramos was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Adriana Skoczylas was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Basic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory made it two in a row for Sierra Vista and bumps their season record up to 5-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Basic, their record now sits at 11-8.
Sierra Vista couldn't quite get it done against Basic in their previous matchup two weeks ago as they fell 11-8. Can the Mountain Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
