Make it 15 blowout wins for the Biloxi Indians this season. They claimed a resounding 60-31 victory over Gulfport on the road. Given Biloxi's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Gulfport is ranked 158th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Zaniya Johnson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Biloxi's points. Nakenya Terry was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Biloxi's win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-4. As for Gulfport, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Biloxi will take on Ocean Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ocean Springs has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28. As for Gulfport, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bay at 5:00 p.m. on January 27th. Bay is coming into the match hot, having won their last 11 games.
