Mathis has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Aransas Pass Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Mathis escaped with a win against the Longhorns by the margin of a single free throw, 55-54.
Meanwhile, Aransas Pass put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Taft 82-54 on the road. Winning may never get old, but Aransas Pass sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Mathis is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-13 record this season. As for Aransas Pass, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-16.
Mathis was dealt a bruising 100-50 loss at the hands of the Panthers in their previous meeting back in January. Can Mathis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
