Softball Recap: Thompson Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Thompson's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg Patriots as they made off with a 24-13 victory. Considering the Tommies have won five games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Thompson let Cindy Eliason and Kya Hurst run wild. Eliason went 5-for-7 with five runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Hurst went 4-for-6 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs Hurst has posted since back in April of 2024. Mya Warcken was another key player, going 4-for-6 with three runs and two RBI.

Thompson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .535. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .368 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Thompson pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.6 runs over those games. As for Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Thompson will take on Dakota Prairie at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg, they will challenge Des Lacs-Burlington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
