Softball Recap: Sanger Wins Going Away Against Clovis

Sanger's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Clovis Cougars as they made off with a 9-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Apaches, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Audrey Ortiz, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Arianah Cardoso was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Sanger has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Clovis, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.

Coming up, Sanger will face off against Clovis West at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Apaches 1.9, the Golden Eagles 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Clovis, they will be taking part in a tournament against Highland at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scots have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
