The Grace Christian Academy Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Fullington Academy Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Grace Christian Academy has struggled recently with eight defeats in a row, while Fullington Academy will arrive with eight straight wins.
Last Friday, Grace Christian Academy came up short against Highland Christian Academy and fell 45-37.
Grace Christian Academy's loss came about despite a quality game from Chloe Brogdon, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Brogdon continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Even though they lost, Grace Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. This was only their 11th loss (out of 12 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Meanwhile, Fullington Academy beat Twiggs Academy 56-49 on Friday.
Fullington Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kathryn Akin, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. Akin hasn't dropped below 11 rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaye Beth Womble, who scored 18 points.
Grace Christian Academy's defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Fullington Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Grace Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Fullington Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
