DeMatha enjoyed a cozy 70-54 win over St. Mary's Ryken on Thursday. Given DeMatha's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while St. Mary's Ryken is ranked 51st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
DeMatha's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashton (ace) Meeks, who scored 14 points. The match was Meeks' third in a row with at least ten points. Jacob Wallace was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
DeMatha's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for St. Mary's Ryken, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.
DeMatha will head out on the road to face off against Bishop O'Connell at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Mary's Ryken, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against The Heights at 12:00 p.m. The Heights is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
