Rosewood has gone a perfect 10-0 against Neuse Charter recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will welcome the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Rosewood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Rosewood is returning to their home field after beating South Lenoir on theirs, despite the fact South Lenoir has dominated at home this season. The Eagles walked away with a 6-3 win over the Blue Devils on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won five in a row.
Cuyler Jones looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Graham Lassiter was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Lund, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Neuse Charter hadn't done well against Lakewood recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Leopards 5-4. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Connor Phillips made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Phillips was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Parr, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Neuse Charter is 5-1 when Parr posts two or more runs, but 0-12 otherwise.
Rosewood's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Neuse Charter, their win bumped their record up to 5-13.
Rosewood took their victory against Neuse Charter when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 13-3 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
