The biggest upset of the week belonged to Ruleville Central, who took down 177th ranked Leland, 18-14.
The Tigers moved up to 238 from 265 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region 4. A 18-14 win over the Cubs helped Ruleville Central improve its standing.
Jonathan Clerk-Beamon and Quadre Butler gave East Side a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Clerk-Beamon threw for 160 yards and three touchdowns, while Butler ran for 196 yards. Taquille Eatmon also contributed to the rushing game with 137 yards on the ground.
Tyron Lemon was the best wideout in the league this week as McClain topped Velma Jackson. Lemon racked up four receptions for 81 yards. Acaunya Brown helped McClain's passing attack out by catching two balls for 45 yards.
Rotavious Thurmond provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Mustangs bested the Falcons. He completed seven passes for 146 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 145 yards.
Leflore County's Grant Simms and Devante Crow have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Simms has thrown for 1349 yards this season, while Crow has 26 catches for 648 yards. The Trojans' Butler leads the league in rushing yards with 1054.
The top two teams in 3A Region 4 will face off this week when first place East Side takes on second place McClain. East Side beat the Tigers last week, while McClain defeated Velma Jackson.
