Baseball Game Preview: Brandeis Broncos vs. SA Roosevelt Rough Riders

For the second straight game, Brandeis will face off against SA Roosevelt. The Broncos will face off against the Rough Riders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brandeis has ten straight victories, SA Roosevelt has 16 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Brandeis is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let SA Roosevelt get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Tanner Hallmark and Jacob Tello made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Hallmark pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Tello tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hallmark has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Hallmark scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1, while Tello scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave Tello a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tate Williams, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Ty Jeter, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Brandeis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Brandeis' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for SA Roosevelt, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-20-1.
