Schoharie is 0-6 against Fonda-Fultonville since April of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Storm will look to defend their home field against the Valley Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Schoharie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Schoharie is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 21 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Unatego on Tuesday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 9-1. The contest marked the Storm's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Kolebyn Scheemaker was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fonda-Fultonville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Fort Plain on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Valley Hawks, who have now won four games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Landon Hamlen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Hamlen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Ethan Richardson was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jacob Sheldon, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Schoharie's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Fonda-Fultonville, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Schoharie has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fonda-Fultonville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Schoharie might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Fonda-Fultonville when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Storm avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
