Layton hasn't had much luck against Fremont recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lancers will challenge the Silverwolves at 3:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Layton put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They skirted past Ogden 13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lancers have posted since May 7, 2024.

Lexie Himle made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Megan Child was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Olivia Woodall, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Layton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Fremont had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 20-7 victory. The match marked the Silverwolves' most dominant win of the season.
The team relied heavily on Saige Steele, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Olivia Broadbent was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Fremont's record now sits at 6-11. As for Layton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-13.
Layton came up short against Fremont when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 6-1. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
