The Winner Warriors pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 60-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Riggs. Winner lost against Riggs in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 66-32 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Winner had strong showings from Shawn Hammerbeck, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, and Aiden Barfuss, who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barfuss has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Carter Craven, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Winner struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Winner's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Riggs, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Winner will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Lyman at 8:00 p.m. on January 16th. As for Riggs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Douglas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Riggs is ranked 29th).
