The Resurrection Christian Cougars waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They strolled past Eaton with points to spare, taking the game 68-49. Given Resurrection Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Reds are ranked 92nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jacob Barker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Yoder, who scored 13 points along with eight assists.
Loss or not, Eaton got some senior leadership from Lucas Stone and Mitch Haythorn. Stone scored 20 points along with two steals, while Haythorn. scored 20 points. Haythorn hasn't dropped below 18 points for four straight games. Peyton Walker was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Eaton struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Resurrection Christian's victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. As for Eaton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
Resurrection Christian will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Ravens at 4:00 p.m. Riverdale Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 contests -- so hopefully the Cougars likes a good challenge. As for Eaton, they will head out on the road to take on the Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
