Baseball Recap: Corvallis Snags 16th Victory in Last 18 Games

Corvallis barely beat Dallas the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Dragons on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 14 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Axel Prechel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Andrew Street was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Logan Lassiter, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Corvallis is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dallas, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.

Corvallis will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Dragons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
