The Mariner Tritons waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Sebring 87-73. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Sebring lost, one person who can't be blamed is KJ Turner. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists. Jordan Gregory was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds.
Mariner is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Sebring, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
Mariner won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Discovery at 10:40 a.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Discovery focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday. As for Sebring, they will head out on the road to challenge Kathleen at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Kathleen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 582nd, while Sebring is ranked 218th).
