Despite the loss, Boyd saw an underclassman step up: Will McIntire rushed for 29 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 163 yards on 13 of 25 attempts.
Vernon's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Boyd, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
